Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic discovered in 1963 with: analgesic, amnestic, and sedative properties. It also can mimic or modify actions of the body’s sympathetic nervous system.

- increased Brain Dervied Neurotropic Factor, which promotes growth and differentiation of new neurons
- activation of downstream synaptic signaling pathways, this means your brain will make new pathways
- modulation of synaptic plasticity, which can improve memory and learning
- ketamine causes a cascade downstream signaling pathway which is thought to result in persistent antidepressant effects
